Vintage Fleming Silver Spade BitVintage Fleming Silver Spade Bit
This spade is just incredible. Looking at the silver engraving work on this one, its clear to see why Fleming silver is so sought after. This spade bit is a great example of Fleming's early work, with intricate details, larger raised side concho, and even engraving work on the bit joint. In a Santa Barbara, straighter style shank that that is shorter than many at just 8", and that is including the rein ring. Slightly smaller mouth at 4 7/8", like designed for a Morgan or more Spanish style bridle horse, with a #2 spade with beads over the bars, and copper roller bead at the top of the spade. Spade measures 3 5/8" to the bottom of the mouth. Double chain bit stabilizer, turned out bridle rings to prevent pinching. The balance on this bit is incredible, riding and sitting well with a really nice weight. Well cared for, showing no major signs of use, just tarnish on the silver. This one is ready to ride or will look fantastic as the center of a collection. This early Fleming spade is one to see!
