Description
The Anigrand Hughes XF-11 is one of their better resin kits and has a lot going for it.I was already offering replacement engine cowlings for the P&W R-4360s but now I am offering the deep carb/oil cooler inlet scoops for each boom as well as the spinners.
The kit scoops look nothing like the real thing, which was crescent shaped and very deep (and not very easy to replicate!)
Each 28 cylinder engine was fed by two large turbosuperchargers and required a huge air inlet.
It was a very impressive engine installation for what was practically a four engine aircraft with two props (like a He-177).
Just cut off the engine cowling and then the lower portion of the boom to replace the inlet.
Leave as much of the original resin boom as you can easily manage.
Cooling gills for the engine and exhaust duct for oil cooler are not included – make out of sheet stock or soda cans.
The kit spinners are about the right shape but are very rough and nearly impossible to clean up properly.
I made replacements that also include the cylindrical section behind the spinners.
This is pretty much everything you need to fix the Anigrand kit, which is pretty good otherwise. The only other needed corrections I'm aware of are that the vertical tails should meet the booms with a crease, rather than a smooth transition (see photo), and the cockpit pod should not be blocked off on the starboard side - it should be wide open on both sides by the pilot's feet.
Includes one pair of scoops, cowlings and spinners. Does not include scoop outlet (make from sheet stock).
From a smoke-free home.
Parts will be mailed in a padded bag.
I will gladly combine shipping (I’ll refund the difference if significant).
Sold as-is, no warranty or returns.
