Natural Vine / Root Wood for Carving, Sculpture, Terrarium, etc.

Description

For sale here is a 3-piece lot of
natural root or vine wood
.   Two of them are gnarled and twisted.  They do have shrinkage cracks, which is nearly inevitable with this type of vine wood, but it also adds to that gnarled, rugged look.
The third piece is a different type of wood that does not seem to have as many shrinkage cracks.  I think it might also have been treated with Anchor Seal.  Not sure what type of wood, but it resembles cherry wood (no guaranteees.)
These are not so much for sawing down or making into blanks, although that might be possible.  You'd have to work around shrinkage cracks, knots, etc.   There are also a couple of saw cuts (see photos).
Mostly these would be for carving, or using the whole shape of the piece as a sculpture.   They would be perfect for that.  Wood like this can take on a very nice finish after it is carved, sanded, etc.
Or, use them for landscaping in a terrarium.
Treatment
:  the two pieces that had signs of insect infestation were soaked in water, then baked in the oven for several hours at 200 degrees.   There should be no more live bugs in them, but that cannot be guaranteed, as we do not have the means to test that.   However, when you get the wood to the point where natural resins start to bubble out of it and darken, everything inside is probably cooked.  That point was reached here.  Normally 140 F is more than sufficient for wood-destroying insects.
The other piece did not appear to have any infestation at all, so it was not heated.  It was in the same box with the other pieces, but being a different wood, might not be a substrate for that species of bug.
