    Description

The order was founded on November 18, 1836 by three dukes: Heinrich von Anhalt-Keten, Leopold IV Friedrich von Anhalt-Dessau, Alexander Karl von Anhalt-Bernburg in honor of the Margrave Albrecht Medved.
Initially, the order consisted of three degrees: a large cross, a commander, a knight, and two medals for merit: a gold medal of merit and a silver medal of merit.
In 1839, the order chain appeared in the charter of the Order.
On March 18, 1848, the commander's cross was divided into two classes: the commander's cross I class (with a star) and the commander's cross (without a star).
On February 8, 1854, the knight's cross was also divided into two classes: gold and silver.
On July 18, 1864, swords were added at the War Merit Awards.
On April 29, 1901, on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Duke Frederick I, a crown was added to the insignia of the order.
